Join an active survey dataset to a versioned reference-data source. Qantly runs the method against your active analysis context and returns structured results for review and interpretation.

When to use it

Use this tool to prepare survey exports, combine them with approved reference data, or analyze structured and open-ended field responses.
Use it only when the selected variables and study design match the method's requirements.

How to use it

  1. Open the tool from the Qantly Tools panel.
  2. Confirm the active dataset and analysis session.
  3. Set Reference source (Required): Use your uploaded dataset by default. Choose the Quantly library only for a cited bundled source.
  4. Set Uploaded reference dataset (Optional): Choose the separately uploaded lookup, denominator, or benchmark dataset to join.
  5. Set Matching column in reference dataset (Optional): Choose the column in the uploaded reference dataset that matches your survey key.
  6. Set Reference columns to add (Optional): Choose one or more value columns to attach to the survey.
  7. Set Library reference dataset (Optional): Only used when Reference source is Quantly reference library.
  8. Set Matching column in your survey dataset (Required): The survey column whose values should match the reference dataset key.
  9. Set Name for joined column (Optional): Optional for a single selected value column. Leave blank to keep the reference column name.
  10. Set Save joined output as a new dataset (Optional): If off, returns a preview only; if on, saves the joined table as a new derived dataset.
  11. Review optional or advanced settings and keep defaults unless your design requires a change.
  12. Run the tool, inspect warnings and diagnostics, then save or export the result with its assumptions.

How to interpret results

Review match rates, transformed values, assumptions, sample sizes, and missing responses before interpreting findings. Survey results describe the collected sample and should be considered alongside the sampling design and fieldwork context.
