When to use it

Use this tool to prepare survey exports, combine them with approved reference data, or analyze structured and open-ended field responses.
Use it only when the selected variables and study design match the method's requirements.

How to use it

  1. Open the tool from the Qantly Tools panel.
  2. Confirm the active dataset and analysis session.
  3. Set Free-text column to code (Required): The open-ended survey column to analyze.
  4. Set Question context (Optional): The original survey question text, given to the model for grounding.
  5. Set Target number of themes (Optional): Approximate number of theme categories to converge on. Leave blank to let the model decide.
  6. Set Representative quotes per theme (Optional): How many verbatim example quotes to keep per theme.
  7. Review optional or advanced settings and keep defaults unless your design requires a change.
  8. Run the tool, inspect warnings and diagnostics, then save or export the result with its assumptions.

How to interpret results

Review match rates, transformed values, assumptions, sample sizes, and missing responses before interpreting findings. Survey results describe the collected sample and should be considered alongside the sampling design and fieldwork context.
